To Crystal Chamber or Not To Crystal Chamber?
That is the question.

I have 49mm of free space to fill.
Why not?
That looks very similar to my Sinister Prophecy chassis.
I faked a crystal chamber with very thin printed walls in the windows, so an LED in there shines through.
To be fair I was leaning towards doing it but it takes a lot to design it up so was kind of putting it off.
Nice chassis by the way, very clean👌
Put a ton of 2020 strings in there, and make it a turbine with colorcycle!
I didn’t even think of that, that would look really cool!
I will mock it up and see what i looks like
thanx tom
I have to learn how to do this. So cool, all the mini “pipes” and little doo-dads in there. Reeally cool.
Ah yes, it was fiddly as hell😂 but was very satisfying when it was finished.
I used 0.5mm brass rod and just bent it at the right places.
Hardest part was fitting them in to the assembly.
I can send you the drawing file if you like to have a look at it in more detail.
@NoSloppy I mocked up a quick crystal chamber (took me 2 days)
I decided to make it modular so if I don’t like it I can just swap it out for another design.
I thought id keep this one quite simple so no fancy doo dads and wot nots on this one.
@MegtoothSith i had a look at the 2020 strips you mentioned i wonder how suitable they would be for making a blade?!
although they pull 6A per 0.5m so wondering if @profezzorn would be happy with the exuberant current draw!
let me know what you guys think.

the final hilt will be 30mm shorter than the 3d printed one as it is a bit on the long side for my liking but still may make one this length anyway as it is quite good for a two handed hilt.
Well that’s just cool. I like the non symmetry for some reason on the fins.
The saber render is really nice! I can’t wait to do a white saber (or off-white pearlescent )
How would it be with a slightly shorter grip section…like 3/4 - 1 inch less? IMO That would tighten up the proportions, but that’s just me
Yeah the fins looked too clinical when they were symmetrical.
I’ve taken about 1" 1/18th off the grip section (30mm) as like you said it would tighten it up a bit😁
I’ll be printing it off shortly in gearish orange again as I’ve run out of black again🙄
I’ve also been looking at resins for the chassis and might have a go at printing with 2 colours.
I’ve got red and green translucent and thought… I wonder what it would look like if I poured red in one side and green the other.
Without mixing it I would just start printing.
Thought it might give a nice effect but I’ve not done it before so might look terrible… or really cool .
V2 of the modular crystal chamber idea…

So I gave printing with the resins i had.
Red and green poured in at diagonal corners into the vat.
At first it looked cool and didn’t appear to mix together while it was sitting there.
I started to print one of my chassis to see what happened.
In my head I had this lovely image of a chassis made of two colours with a transition between the two.
What I got was a bit of red and a bit of green but mostly a brownish colour.
It would appear that the build plate moving up and down is quite affective at mixing the resin in the vat.
I might try doing something similar but with a very small quantity of resin in the vat and add a small amount of different colours and see how that turns out.
edit.
didn’t get / make time for the resin experiment, but instead have been working on sound, blade design and other smaller bits and pieces.
and this…
maybe a better pic to help you envision what i’m creating
10 points goes to the person who can guess who’s hilt this is?!
Edit 2.
Ended up 3d printing the hilt to get a feel for it and it is colossal!
But I really like how it turned out!
Happy new year!
Hey Boys, much much time later, and I’m looking at my Peace Saber. I may try again to finish this bish.
I missed this thread. As far as the Dec '21 post, that’s a loaded question my friend.
The hilt belongs to Boone Kastis, originally designed by Mr. Gus Mendonca.

10 points to @A_Rogue_Child !
Well done on getting it right.
I still need to refine the design but the sound from this saber is insane!
Go for it mate. Will be hreat to see it finish.
thanks bud.
My board thus far.
My question how do i Identify the buttons i got 3 wires one is attached (yellow) to Button 1 the blue at the end is aux and the white is gnd.
Right?
white
pretinned and soldered wires to my speaker.
now I need to desolder the speakers pads on the board on install the new wires onto the board. wish me luck, I think I can do this.
