Well I just threw caution to the wind and applied battery power regardless.
All the meter beeping stopped. everything works fine, including data4 and data5, regardless of still receiving “short on pin N expected low with pulldown” messages.
Hmmm. I feel like the board’s fine and the script might just need some fine tuning?
Also, uploading a normal config, it continues to act normal.
ok, all three 1.5 boards same. good to go regardless of odd test behavior.
what is pin zero? Doesn’t it start at 1?

@NoSloppy I have 3 working proffie 2.2s with issues:
CPU generates heat on battery or USB power and battery drains in 1 day or less.
All worked fine until they were connected to a particular micro USB cable. All started getting symptoms almost immediately after this cable was used.
I’ve already done a thread of this without a solution. Actually just curious if you would want to investigate them like these other ones you have done?
They’re all working and heating up? Like, heating up to the point of burning you or just getting hot? If it’s burning then that sounds like something inside the MCU is fried and it’s just a matter of time before it takes the whole thing out (I’ve had this happen to me before when not being careful with the way power interacts with GPIO pins on other MCUs).
If it’s only getting hot, but not burning, then that sounds like just something borked and shorted, which would then be a (more) fun investigation.

They function right now like any saber would. You can flash them etc. The just get hot. How hot? not sure exactly, but pretty warm. I fully expect they will die completely if they were used much. Electrically, nothing occurred to them except the use of that cable.
I see. My guess would be one of those two things then… if everything else is working though I’d be fearful of something being internally borked. Not that there’s really a way to know without properly looking at 'em and testing them though, so best of luck, hopefully it’s repairable

Unfortunately, to my knowledge a hot CPU typically just means something internal on the chip is not happy and there’s not much to be done except maybe swap the CPU.
DId you test them with zero connections, totally cleaned and USB only, and run a meter around it to confirm 3.3V etc?
