ProffieOS7 Style Library Phase 4 (Early Access) - Q & A

Do you reckon there will be a 7.15 or is it just gonna jump strait to 8

Waiting to see, hopefully we can get 7.15, it’s pretty small fix but it’s profezzorn’s decision.

Fingers crossed then, I like the idea of the idle sound, lots of fun to be had

idle sound?
We just worked on and added that for OS8.

This is a controllable Special Ability, it can be used for many different things- Idle sound is just one use

That sounds cool I see there’s a lot of hard work goin on behind the scenes, i am exited for 8 and all the new features, pretty sad to hear that pstofff might be getting the chop though will this be gone forever or is it being replaced with something new

Where did you hear that?

I read it in that link that you shared

profezzorn commented last week

I feel like we should link postoff to idle (if postoff exists)
If postoff doesn’t exist, we should link out directly to idle.

No that’s just meaning ā€œif the font contains that soundā€.
Not all fonts come with pstoff files, in which case, the ā€œoutā€ sound would directly be followed by the ā€œidleā€ sound.

Aww ok, sorry I misinterpreted it, I need to stop asking questions  especially when the answers come back so obvious

I’ve moved over to OS8.1 since it now support the FETT263 prop, and spin mode isn’t activating when I hold power and swing while off. I get a normal swing on. Is there a conflict in my config? Maybe spin mode got lost in the shuffle? Wasn’t sujre if this was an OS Beta test question of specific enough to your prop to place here. Thanks!

Probably better in OS8 beta thread, not really a library thing.

I didn’t make any changes to my prop for OS8 that should impact any existing features, so no idea how it would be impacted.

What does this mean? You are looking to turn on by spinning and have spin sounds play?

You don’t have #define ENABLE_SPINS in your config.

If you add that, does it do what you want?

Oh, no it’s a different feature. From the FETT263 prop:

NEW! Toggle Spin Mode* = Hold PWR + Swing
Disables Clash, Stab and Lockup effects to allow for spinning and flourishes
Will play bmbegin.wav or force.wav when toggled ON/OFF

It’s for us show -offs who like to twirl things around and not give away when we hit ourselves in the legs

My next project is a pair of nunchaku, so it’s mostly for this

I would assume that’s a button / gesture action that you do while the saber is on, not off.

Yeah, I thought that too at first but zooming out:

Standard Controls While Blade is OFF
Turn On / Ignite Saber* = Click PWR
*If FETT263_MOTION_WAKE_POWER_BUTTON defined first Click will Wake up motion detection and boot sound will play
Turn On / Ignite Saber (Muted) = Double Click PWR
Change Preset (one at a time*) = Click AUX
*if pointing down will go to previous
NEW! Scroll Presets (using twist menu) = Long Click AUX
Turn Right (Stepped) = Next Preset
Increment by 5 = Hold PWR + Turn Right
Turn Left (Stepped) = Previous Preset
Increment by 5 = Hold PWR + Turn Left
    Click PWR = Select Preset
NEW! Hold PWR = Select and Ignite Preset
Click AUX = go to First Preset
Play Track = Long Click PWR pointing up
NEW! Track Player* = Long Click PWR parallel
*requires tracks in either font/tracks/ or common/tracks/
*if no tracks in font or common will "Loop" default track
Turn Right (Stepped) = Next Track
Turn Left (Stepped) = Previous Track
Click PWR = Play Current Track Once
Click AUX = Random (will play current track and then randomly select next tracks)
Hold PWR + Turn Right = Rotate (will play current track and then next sequential tracks)
Hold PWR + Turn Left = Loop Current Track
Long Click PWR = Stop Track Player
NEW! Force/Quote Player = Hold PWR
If quotes exist in current font pointing straight down will toggle between Force/Quote and play
    *Quotes play sequentially 1,2,3...
If parallel will do Force/Quote based on current mode
NEW! Toggle Gesture Sleep* = Hold PWR + Clash
    *toggles gesture controls on/off
*gestures sleep automatically if Blade Detect is enabled and blade is missing
NEW! Toggle Spin Mode* = Hold PWR + Swing
Disables Clash, Stab and Lockup effects to allow for spinning and flourishes
Will play bmbegin.wav or force.wav when toggled ON/OFF
    *requires FETT263_SPIN_MODE define

I think this came to be in os 6? Lost track

Well then it sounds like you’re either not holding power the whole time while doing the swing, or ENABLE_SPINS is required, or both. :person_shrugging:

Agreed. I’m gonna check that all, do some other tests, and circle back. Thank you!!!’

No, it’s done when blade is off.

New Special Ability - Toggle Idle / Off Sound Effect - ProffieOS7.15 Early Access Library Update

I have added a new Special Ability to my Early Access Style Library - ā€œToggle Idle/Off Soundā€.

This Special Ability allows you to toggle an idle sound on or off (Special Abilities 5 ~ 8). The Idle/Off sound is a sound that can play while your saber is not ignited. This sound can be anything you want, for the demo I used a hum from a different font and lowered the volume in Audacity.

When toggled on the Idle sound will play anytime your saber is retracted and will stop when you ignite the saber. If you want to stop the sound you just do the same Special Ability to toggle off. This Special Ability will require OS7.15 (released a little while ago). There was a bug in previous versions that didn’t allow this type of Special Ability to run properly.

In addition to the Idle/Off Sound, there are several other new styles and effects added to the Early Access library that I haven’t had a chance to video yet. I’ve been working on development and testing for OS8 but still have more coming to the OS7 Library as I get time, so keep an eye out.

In the meantime, check out the new Special Ability and other additions in my Early Access Library, enjoy!
