@profezzorn Does adding the capacitor to the Proffie V3.9 has any detriment if I don’t install a BT module? Because it would male sense to dedicate an evening and install it in many cards in one go if it has no detriment.
I can’t think of any drawback of adding a capacitor.
Circuit diagram & BOM is now available here:

The kicad files require some work before I can post them, but they will be available soon as well.
In your V2.2 you had a Solidworks file. That or a Step would be great for designing. I guess I could use a V2.2 model for most things, but still.
The V3 is exactly the same size, so having a new model would just be for looks.
I’ll see if I can convince kicad to export some sort of 3d model.
i got 2, already own 1…gonna put one in a KRORssguard Im selling. I have a 2.2 in mine.
Bought 3. Threw every bladestyle I could think of and barely at 336k.
I know the V3 offers several new features, including deep sleep. But assuming I don’t need the expanded feature set, what advantages does the V3 offer over the V2? Lower latency/faster response, maybe?
Trying to decide whether it’s worth cracking open my favorite hilt to upgrade the board.
My favs are 2x the memory and SD speeds, and
Battery charging thru the board via USB.
I think you just answered your own question there.
Clearly, if you don’t need it, you don’t need it…
Probably the biggest feature of the V3 board is the additional memory. Not only does this let you have more styles and features in your config file, but can also be translated into speed by changing the optimization settings in Arduino → Tools → Optimization.
The V3 CPU is not actually faster, it’s the same ARM m4 core, running at the same speed (80Mhz). However, the aforementioned optimization setting can be used to speed things up a bit. In addition, the faster SDMMC interface means that the CPU spends less time reading data from the SD card, which leaves more time for processing heavy styles and such.
I would probably not recommend upgrading an existing saber to V3 unless there is a specific problem with that saber that you are looking to solve by using a V3 board.
Thanks, that’s exactly the info I was looking for. As it turns out, I’m able to turn on the “Fastest” optimization for the V2 as long as I keep my config down to 4 presets, each with one of @Fett263’s OT blade styles. So the only real advantage of the V3 for me would be SDIO.
USB charging support and deep sleep are awesome features, of course. But my main hilt is a pop-n-swap, and I’ve gone weeks without having to change the battery (with the saber inactive, of course), so I’m not hurting for a deep sleep solution.
Welcome Lazzar!
Added a POD page for the V3 status LED:
‘Deciphering’, FYI
Fixed.
(PS: You know there’s an edit button in the top right corner, right?)
Ah, yeah, I didn’t want to step on toes, but will get stuck in in the future.
There is no toe-stepping involved. Everybody is invited to help documenting stuff.
PR submitted. not sure on the color at the bottom.
