Vader's Sabers Hex Blade vs Quantum Blade

Already have a “Hex Blade” that I first saw from Vader’s Sabers, & now more sellers have a version of it.
Nothing special, just 32inch neopixel blade crammed with 684 LEDs & it lasts around an hour or less.
Want to get another bright blade & thinking about getting a Quantum, which also takes up more power.
What’s suppose to make that brighter is just the technology & placing of the lights.

I’m getting a new super bright blade because the one I have isn’t diffusing the color of the whites evenly anymore. I know it’s the blade that’s damaged because I’ve tried it on different hilts, used different blades, & got the same results.
So it would be nice if I could maybe know that Quantum Blades have better connections in general above all, but I’d also like to know which one have a longer battery life.
Or even if a certain seller just puts their’s together & does a better job. My go to is SaberBay for stuff like this…

I’m 90% sure Vader’s Sabers is a Chinese reseller. I’m not aware of such a blade, but I’d probably be more inclined to buy a Quantum blade.

At least it’s been tested and has known performance and power draw.

TCSS sells them, they’d be my go-to in the US.

At the end of the day they’re just tubes with a crap ton of lights shoved into them. The LEDs themselves are all mostly the same, but cheaper/sketchier parts and blade electronics materials (like China is known for skimping on) is the biggest factor past a certain point.

It’s important to know that more LEDs dosn’t always mean brighter.
This is because smaller neopixels generally draw less power and put out less light than bigger ones.

For the most part, LED efficiency is fairly similar for most LEDs though, which means that the light output is more or less proportional to the power draw. This means almost regardless of what blade you buy, battery life is equal to battery size / brightness, and there are no magical blades that produce more brightness without affecting battery life.

Unfortunately, measuring brightness of blades is not exactly easy either, and while people have done it, there isn’t a simple and repeatable method, so results tend to vary a bit. Measuring power draw is easier, as you can just see how long your battery lasts.

I know that they’ll both affect the battery life, (especial this one with 684 LEDs).
But I’m wondering if a Quantum Blade is more power efficient.

What it sounds like is that Blades from sellers that get there stuff dropshipped & don’t build it themselves tend to get their products from places that use cheaper/sketchier to build their stuff.
So now I’m thinking the size of the LEDs doesn’t matter, & it’s just how much power it’s going through.

I know Quantum Blades use less LEDs & depends more on the positioning of the LEDs.
So does that mean those 32inche 684 LED “Show Blades” that other people sell probably just last less longer because of the amount of blades they have?

I’d starting to think that just having a blade with less LEDs, but that are strategically placed to cover all the blind spots & sides with better diffusion & foam would be better?

I think the quality and thickness of the diffusion is important. And I could imagine that having good LED placement (and possibly more leds) to naturally get less shading could allow for thinner diffusion, which would absorb less light, and thus be more efficient.

However, I think we’re talking about somewhat marginal effects. It might make a difference of +/- 15%, which is not that much. (human eyes operates on scales from 0.1 lumens to 100k lumens, and a change of 15% can be hard to even notice.)

Basically; chasing small improvements tends to lead to disappointment.

Sounds like what I want to be chasing then is not the brightness, but those small imperfections.
Those dark areas on the sides I always notice on regular blades, & the amount blackness on the tip of everyone.

More quality & not quantity! Thanks man!
Got an Epilepsy Support Group to dress up for Costume Contest & I’ll be waving around a lightsaber powder-coated in the Foundation’s color (purple) & a gradient purple pattern for the blade too!
Also going to give away a Xeno v3 I have. Thinking Darth Vader, or Anakin?
