I’m sure everyone has heard that the dueling, screen used, hand chopping Darth Vader saber is going up for auction:
https://propstoreauction.com/
It’s supposed to make an appearance in New York, but I can’t figure out where or when. Anyone have a clue about this?
I saw Khal checking it out on his insta. Guessing it’s in London at the moment. You can openly view action items at the major houses here…just never really had the motivation until I saw this!
I’d be interested to know in whose private collection it has been all these years. And what’s prompted them to sell now?
Yeah, I’m also curious.
I will live in hope that it will wind up in a place of honor, not as assest or brag piece alone.
Maybe Peter Jackson will buy it.

I don’t know about these things.
When it says “screen matched”, is that meaning they’re verifying it matches the one on screen via it’s markings etc…?
Yeah, matching to the screen is part of the authentication process. It adds a great deal of value. Who ever gets this can hold it while they watch Empire and enjoy watching their piece on scene during all or at least some of the epic duels.
There’s a lottery that came through my instagram that points to this url.
I entered
Uh, I got a slot
Here the email incase you want to try to jump on an rsvp. You never know how they keep track of these things. Could just all be automated until you email in.
I would be great to see a fellow saber-head! I’m gonna try for session 2.

Ha, well it could be a bunch of dudes all on an infinitely long line surrounded by tourists. I’m curious to see how classy they keep it, or if they’ll over book it. Or maybe none cares but us?
But I have the time off before the school season starts, so if they let me I’ll try. I’ll report back with either a tale of another ridiculous day surviving Times Square, or pics of a grail piece

Well, thought it was a bust but just got a very friendly email from the director of marketing and she’s put me on the list with the +1 I requested for my wife. Guess I’m takin the train to Times Sq today

OK final post. It was quiet and easy. My name was on the list and it was a small, pleasant room with a bar and about 8 people in suits there to answer questions. Depending on your outlook, it was either a long sales pitch or a private tour. My wife and I both enjoyed it, and they seemed pleased when we said we weren’t buying but observing for our craft as DIY/makers.
I learned a lot and would say it was worth the excruciating express-D-train-gone-local on the way home. Also, excellent swag with a tote (meh), a partial catalogue (the full one is $75 and sold out, but viewable here), and a very nice collectable book describing the $2 million USD Vader Saber with detailed screen matching photos and even an xray.

I hope an 8 year old sees it and is like ‘it doesn’t light up or make noise…’
