Thank you Fredrik for adding a Graflex 3D model to the Style Editor, it looks awesome, so can we add more classic models like Vader and Obi-Wan hilts? Also is it possible to improve detail and accuracy of the model? I have all required accurate OBJ/FBX/STL models of various hilts and found a converter to SDF format, so it should be possible?
Please let me know what you need from me to get it done, or teach me how to do it, so I can play with it myself
I think it’s all done with more or less raw WebGL shaders. WebGL is a rabbit hole to go down if you want to lol.
I’m actually doing some work on the style editor, and allowing for different models is definitely going to be possible.
These 3d models you have, where did they come from? What license are they under?
All built by me from scratch measuring best replicas on the market.
Very cool.
The new code I’m working uses three.js, and the preferred model format is gltf.
It’s not quite done yet, but it’s definitely getting there.
Would you prefer to send models to me and have me add them to the style editor, or make PRs on github?
Either way, the models will need to be converted to gltf at some point, and possibly simplified to not use more than a few Mb.
Unfortunately, the model I’m using right now has questionable licensing, so replacing it with something you made (with your permission) would be great.
Ok, I will simplify, convert to gltf and email you my Vader model to try.
Oh wow–the graphics are amazing–and I love that hilt… it’s one of my active install projects.
There is a message at the bottom of my laptop screen saying “VR not supported” but this is a 6 year old laptop.
Does your 6-year old laptop support VR?
I get it too on brand new M4 Mac mini. Chrome Browser.
Safari says WEBXR NOT SUPPORTED.
Yes? You need a paired VR headset for WEBXR support.
The button isn’t wrong, VR isn’t supported. If you did have VR support it would let you press the button to see the saber in VR. It’s a work in progress though, eventually I’ll figure out how to not show the button at all if VR is not supported.
Thank you for explaining what that meant… it is unlikely my 6yr old laptop supports VR, but my desktop does–I’ve just never had a reason to use it. I might even have an old VR headset somewhere.
