Hey, anyone else have this issue. I’ve run a few test with my fonts and realized that the audio only crackles if there is a smoothsing.ini file in the folder. I’m using the ini files that come with the font. The crackles only occur on the proffie v2.2 boards, its fine on my proffie v3.9 boards (All are 89sabers from CC Sabers). I’ve tried the FILTER_CUTOFF_FREQUENCY define but its still there. Any thoughts?
You should post the contents of the smoothsw.ini file so we can have a look.
Sounds like some setting(s) in there are not as ideal for the font compared to the default values (which get used if the file is missing)
This is the one from the Luke ROTJ font, its the one with the most noticeable crackles. Not sure where I got that font. I might have just buy one from Kyberphonic or Ksith lol
# always include custom ini files in the fontdir
## smoothswing settings
# smoothswing version (should be 1 or 2)
# 1 when smoothsw.ini is not found then fallback to v1
# 2 smoothswing v2 <-- usually select this one!!
Version=2
# degrees of rotations per second required to reach full volume
# the default is 450.0 (any value)
SwingSensitivity=300
# smoothswing volume multiplier (defaults to 3x normal volume)
# the default is 3.0 (value between 1 and 5)
MaxSwingVolume=3
# what percent the hum sound will decrease as swing increases
# the default is 75.0 (value between 1 and 100)
MaximumHumDucking=75
# non-linear swing response (higher values make it more non-linear)
# the default is 1.75 (any value)
SwingSharpness=3
# degrees per second needed to register as a swing
# the default is 20.0 (1 to 360)
SwingStrengthThreshold=30
# degrees per second needed to register first swing transition
# the default is 45.0 (1 to 360)
Transition1Degrees=60
# degrees per second needed to register second swing transition
# the default is 160.0 (1 to 360)
Transition2Degrees=240
# set to 90 degrees per second to approximate double-blades
# the default is 180.0 (90 double blade, 1 - 360 max)
Transition3Degrees=180
# degrees required to trigger an accent swing
# when they are found in the fontdir
# default is 450
AccentSwingSpeedThreshold=450
# G force required to trigger an accent slsh instead of a swng.
# if no slsh files are found, swng files are played instead.
# Higher values mean a harder swing is required, lower is the
# opposite. Values range from 0 - 4, default is 2.3
AccentSlashAccelerationThreshold=4
It’s an older file, but that’s not your problem per se.
AccentSlashAccelerationThreshold isn’t G force, and that number is pretty low.
This is the current default file:
What frequency did you try with the FILTER_CUTOFF_FREQUENCY?
What font is it?
It seems weird that a v2.2 board would have an issue compared to sounding fine on a 3.9.
Thanks I will try that file!
I’ve tried 200, 1000, and 2000.
its a Luke ROTJ font original folder is MOM, I’m not sure which vender it came from, I think its from one i got from japan. its dated from April, 29, 2021
Still having the same issue. I think I’ll look a replacement font from a reputable font maker. Thanks for the help.
ok but that still doesn’t explain why it would be fine without a smoothsw.ini file and crackly with, or why it only does it on one board.
I’d have to lean towards something about the 2.2 board maybe?
Man I feel so dumb, its the Micro SD card, I think I had to many fonts on the card, about 110 fonts but was only using 30 of them. I reformatted my card then copied only the necessary fonts over and now it works great.
