however the sd card can be mounted to my steam deck without issue and all the files are there.
I also formatted the sd card with fat32
could the sd card on the proffie be broken?
First thing that comes to mind when the sd card cannot be found (from experience) is that I thought it was fat32, but it wasn’t.
Are you sure it’s fat32?
I had a 128 GB SD card, which is not able to format properly (higher than 4 Gigs) with Windows alone and (for me) the sd card association formatter did not work as it made exFat without the ability to change the type.
So I had a workaround with Rufus: Clarification on SD Card size limit (32Gb?)
Also, if you have another board laying around, you can try to check if that board can mount?
my brother has all my boards BUT I did have another sd card so I copied 1 sound font and voicepack and that worked, so I think I might have messed up the sd card. I’m using partition magic on my steam deck, what should I look for in the partition to see if it is working.
I think the partition I used was gpt instead of ms-dos i’ll reformat using ms-dos and see if that resolves it.
Well, the fact that the steam deck can read the files would suggest the format is not correct, not a broken card.
I’m not sure what you mean by:
I was about to copy some google instructions for steam os, but I see you already edited the post to do exaclty what this google search mentioned lol.
My only experience with formatting SD cards for ProffieBoards are with Rufus on Windows, as I currently don’t own a linux desktop machine (I do have linux servers). But if you can’t get it to work I could boot up a VM and try to format a SD card and come up with a how-to guide if nobody else has one
it was the partition table being set to gpt,
SOLUTION:
if you reformat the sd-card ENSURE that the partition is MS-DOS.
