Saber looks Dead after Cable came Unplugged during Code Upload

So, yeah, my saber is messed up. While I was trying to upload new code onto the proffie board of my SaberTrio, the data cable came out and interrupted the connection. Everything would have been okay if that stupid cable to didn’t pop out. I had it fully connected, but the Sabertrio hilt kind of pushed it out because the core wants to pull back in like a spring, for some reason. Now, the proffie COM port no longer appears in Arduino > Tools, and any time I upload now, it just counts to 10 and does nothing else. My saber seems more or less dead.

Please tell me I didn’t just kill it. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I would REALLY appreciate some help :frowning:

Thanks, as always  It took a couple of tries with the buttons on the board, but that did the trick!

You’re welcome, glad to hear.

I hate to come back with a very similar problem, but this one has me stumped.

Once again, in a newer saber, it seemed that when I was uploading the config file in Arduino the cable came disconnected. However, I haven’t been able to press the BOOT and RESET buttons because I have no idea where they are. This is a new model by Sabertrio (and yes, I’ve contacted them as well), but I hoped someone could take a look and see what I should do. HERE’s a pic of the new Proffie board.

I would reach out to the installer to ask how to access the buttons. Then use this page.

Will do

 :+1:

Is this one of those that have holes under the battery for poking the boot/reset buttons?

@profezzorn Yes, there’s two holes in the battery pocket used to access the BOOT and RESET buttons.

Yep, it turns out that the BOOT and RESET buttons are behind the battery. They even provided a tool in the box to push the buttons.

So, that’s great and all because I have STM32 Bootloader listed in Device Manager now. The problem I seem to be having now is that in Arduino, under Tools, and Port, it only gives me options for COM 1, 5 and 6. There’s no option for a Proffie connection.

I feel like I’ve had to fix a problem like this before, but I can’t remember how. Any ideas?

(just to note, I have been in contact with Sabertrio, but I only ever get one response per day, which is why I’m here, hoping for faster answers :stuck_out_tongue: I really appreciate everyone’s help BTW!)

I think this page might be more relevant:

Especially this part:

Yeah, I followed those instructions, and I think I made some progress, because I reset the board on a different computer. However, when I Upload, I get…

Sketch uses 271456 bytes (53%) of program storage space. Maximum is 507904 bytes.

Meanwhile, in the bottom right it says “Proffieboard V3 on COM10 (not connected)”. That part is familiar, because that would happen if I forgot to set the COM. But it’s set on COM 10, with no connection.

That generally means that the board was not in bootloder mode (and it didn’t have a port to use to put it in bootloader mode.) Note that if you press BOOT+RESET, it only stays in bootloader mode while it has power. If you unplug it and then plug it into another computer, then you will need to do BOOT+RESET again.

Thank you, guys, for all your help  I heard from Sabertrio and they noticed I was using the wrong config file :man_facepalming: So I reset the board one last time, uploaded the correct config, and now everything works great!

Sorry for being such a pain in the @$$. LOL Thanks again though, really. I appreciate you all for taking your time to hold my hand through this. I’m learning
