ProffieOS v6.3 BETA testing

Seems ok, not the fastest but good enough. I’ll have to do some digging as I’ve never experienced and not sure what would cause. In the interim, what happens if you try a different voice pack?

I swapped to a different SD card I had lying around, and loaded it with the “common” folder from “ProffieOS_Voicepack_English_A”. Given that this appears to be a slower SD card, I suspect it may be something with the ProffieOS_Voicepack_English_C files.

I’ll test the original SD card with the ProffieOS_Voicepack_English_A files, and the new SD card with the ProffieOS_Voicepack_English_C files and report back.

Okay, it’s definitely something about the files in ProffieOS_Voicepack_English_C. Swapping them out for ProffieOS_Voicepack_English_A on the original SD card and there are no issues.

I downloaded them over the weekend from Free prop sounds

I find it super-weird that it’s claiming that num_files_ is 256 here.
That just doesn’t make any sense.
Looking at the code, I don’t see anything that would make this number 256.
What version of the arduino-proffieboard plugin do you have?

@NoSloppy can you take a look at Voicepack C to see if these files have an issue?

Hmm, looks like 2.2.0?

How did you setup the SD? I had just uploaded the files needed. It was when I went back and used SD Card Formatter to reformat the SD and then drop all the files into it all at once on a clean install that things got sorted correctly and English C and other things started to work correctly. Just spitballing here.

No bueno. Smash that UPDATE button.

Yes, but no screenshots unless necessary please: @(&#)(@&*@)(#$& screenshots
Might want to try upgrading to 3.6. and see if that works any better.

Definitely goto the 3.6 update.

Maybe a shot in the dark, but I just stripped some sneaky metadata from these.
@Jamin_Brown, could you test with these files please after trying the plug-in first?

I’ve been formatting it in Disk Util and then copying the files on fresh. Usually all at once, as I have a staging folder.

I have this to say. Use SDFormatter.

Sorry about that. I’m headed out to visit with family. But once I’m able, ill continue testing.

I can’t seem remove the screenshot/edit posts on mobile. I’ll try to do so once I’m on via my laptop.

My test plan:

  1. Try the meta-stripped audio files first.
  2. Plug-in 3.6 with the original files.
And if #2 fails, I’ll try with the meta-stripped files on 3.6.

Okay, I’ll try that first, then go from there. Thanks!

You need to update to 3.6 plugin, it’s required for OS6 to operate properly with my prop.

Use SD Formatter. Trust me, I was dong the same thing and it finally took using what @NoSloppy suggested to stop the secondary errors.

@NoSloppy So EnglishC did have something weird then? I’ll try the DropBox version you just posted once home from work.

I discovered residual metadata, track names specifically, from when they were once numbered files during creation. No direct implication it’s causing an error, but just in case, and no harm in stripping them.

So at this point then it would be worth me downloading and replacing the folder then. Thx

*I’d check the other ones too, just in case. Back to the daily job stuff…

Wouldn’t hurt, but as you see above, a test is pending to see if either the metadata, or the plug-in version might be the issue.
I’m leaning toward the latter.
