Proffieboard V3 charge port

Hello,

First time building a proffie setup! I am doing a energy sword and have everything wired and done. It does work phenomenal.

Charging is my questiom though. As my setup is: 2 illuminated switches, 2 Neopixel strips, kill switch and a charge port.

With the kill switch on to kill all power to the setup i plug in my charger and it will not charge.

Am i missing something here? Do i need to turn the killswitch on? I have read forms that you do not want that much power going through the board. It is 4.7v 2 amp charger.

If all i have to do is turn on the switch to charge i will but did not want to fry my setup without confirmation.

I have double checked all wiring to be exact to the configuration generator.

Thank you

If you have a separate charge port (not charging through the USB port) then you should not need the kill switch to be on to charge the battery. If that doesn’t work, then something is most likely not wired correctly, and you should check why the voltage isn’t reaching the battery with a multimeter.

I have used my digital multimeter to confirm power is coming out the pins of the charge port.

I have a beginners question as well.

The way it is wired power goes through the kill switch. When flipped off it kills power and breaks the circuit. So how does the recharge port work? Because the circuit is broke. So how is it suppose to charge it?

Im missing something small, i know it. Ive double checked my wiring and cannot find any inconsistency compared to the configurator.

The charge port has three pads.
When the charger is NOT connected, two of the pins are shorted, and the power can flow from the battery to the board.
When the charger is connected, the pins are disconnected, and one of those pads connects the charger to the the battery, while the other is disconnected.

Unfortunately, not all charge ports have the pads in the same order, so wiring by pictures can be confusing.

That makes sense. I even downloaded the drawing diagram for the Switchcraft charge port to make sure i have the correct one. What you are explaining is not how i wired it. My battery negative goes to the charge port, but my battery positive goes to my kill switch.

I think I know what to do to fix this now.

I appreciate your insight and all you do for proffie!!

Cant wait to have this build done.

I got it working! Wanted to follow up, just had some time today to work on it. You were correct, I had to add a wire. Made more sense after your explanation, so thank you.

Much appreciated and working great now!
