Proffieboard V2.2 Not responding

Can anyone help me out? I’m new to proffie sabers, and in the process of trying to add more blade styles and allow them to work with the new fonts, everything stopped working. It was going smoothly, following a youtube video for help, uploaded from Arduino to the board, and unplugged it. No error codes, nothing indicating I had done something wrong. Even has the same download screen as the youtube video I watched. I put the battery back in, put it all back in the hilt, and nothing. Wont turn on. Made sure the swtich was on, on the board itself, it was. Clicked it on and off, nothing. Plugged it back into the computer, nothing. Charged it for a little bit, nothing. Did I seriously just fry the board doing everything right the first time ever attempting??

While that is possible, it is unlikely.
It seems more likely that you did something else wrong, like maybe write a V3 config to a V2 board or something.

Generally speaking, if the board is not showing up when connecting it to the computer, these are sthe steps to follow:

If you can follow these steps successfully, but the board is still not responsive after disconnect, then the problem is in your configuration, so that would be the next step to figure out.

Thank you for the help, that worked!! Now I’m coming across another issue. I use Fett236 blade editor, but when I replace blade style codes in the config and the blade style text, nothing changes. I’m flashing the board and its not saying theres any issues at all. But once I download it adn put the board back in, the blade stays the same. I read something about changing a line of text to not save original blade styles but I dont see that line on my config. Any idea here?

make sure you don’t have this in your config file:

Check that it’s actually uploading:

I dont have the “Define KEEP” in my config. Ardiuno is also properly uploading to the board. Ive now copy and pasted code from fett236 editor, and fredrik hubble editor. fredrik wont read the codes from fett236, and fredriks codes are significantly shorter than other codes. upon trying both and redownlading, still nothing. All files names are correct and matching, and arduino still hasnt told me if there was a mistake in the coding. everything looks fine until the saber turns on to show the wrong blade.

I figured I’d pop this in too. this is the blade code from the fredrik editor. let me know if you see anything wrong with this?

Are you saving the changes made to the config, Is the config in the config folder in the proffieOS folder? Also if your using note pad in windows 11 you can’t just close the window you need to close the tab and click save

yes, im saving the changes made to the config, yes its in the proffie config folder. Im on mac not windows. Im saving and trying three different blade styles

It’s strange then that it’s not working, everything staying the same once it’s uploaded definitely doesn’t sound right

sounds like you’re not uploading the config you think you are (the one you are editing and saving).
make sure the #define CONFIG_FILE line in arduino is actually the exact name of the file you are editing.
To test, just type some junk like xihdjfnbgihjsbdf into the config, save and verify in Arduino. If it doesn’t give you an error on your junk text, then it’s not the config it’s using.

Sunday night I spent 4 hours trying different blade styles for only one to work. I made sure the config file was in the config folder of ProffieOS and that seemed to fix it. Then arduino was telling me I had errors in the sketch, so I kept trying different blade texts over and over until I finally found one that would work. Is there an easier way to grab blade styles? I used fett236 editor and those codes aren’t working, along with putting it in the fredrik saber editor it tells me there’s errors in the code. Any recommendations so I’m not spending 3 hours trying gobs of blade styles for one font?:joy:

My library styles shouldn’t output any errors in Arduino when uploading. (Depending on the version of the Style Editor they may not display correctly or the templates may not be updated though).

Most errors are just syntax errors in the presets or config. I suggest using my Config Helper tool, it handles all of the syntax for you and does most of the heavy lifting so that you get a config file that will compile.

Just watch the videos at the top and then read through and make your selections.

Just a tip, to avoid “hours of time”, start with one preset, get it to upload. Once you’re successful, then add more. If you swing for the fences your first at bat, you’re more likely to strike out, make contact first, then up it from there

You may find this helpful as well, follow step-by-step if this is your first time trying to update:

Awesome, thank you bro!! That last time when it took me a while I only did the one style. I didn’t add a ton or do anything crazy, it just took me a while being I’ve never done it before and I was having issues so I was just trying to work those out. This blade style is the only thing I’ve added so far. As far as proffieOS I’m running 4.6 with a v2.2 board, but I can check those other areas you sent to see if maybe I’m doing something wrong. Thank you for the help! I look forward to sticking the Acolyte bleeding crystal blade in my saber, that will be fun!

As in ProffieOS 4? That would be problematic, the library requires OS7.15. See the link at the top of the library for current OS version click “v7.15” or visit:

https://fredrik.hubbe.net/lightsaber/proffieos.html

I don’t think so, I think it’s the plugin version. I go to board manager and search proffie the highest version I have is 4.6. When I just do a search of proffie 4.6 I’m seeing betas and that it just released within a year. I’m pretty sure I have the newest form of proffieOS, I just got the saber like a month ago. I thought I had already made sure os7 is on but I could be wrong. What’s the best way to check?

Ah, plugin version is fine, I thought you meant OS version.

No worries, I’m brand new to this so just this now and your YouTube videos I’ve been watching for the past 3-4 days have helped me out a lot with this whole process. Everything seemed significantly more complicated when I got it until I found you and it makes it so much easier to learn. I’ll make sure once I get home today I’m on OS7 for sure, then I’ll give that bleeding crystal blade a shot again. Idk how you do it but hats off to you they look awesome dude.

You’re welcome, the pages I linked above will help. For the Bleeding Crystal be sure yiu also watch the videos at the top of the library as the more advanced OS7 styles require additional set up and font support to run properly.

Good luck.
