No, I am holding it now and it is cold.
It can also be a cable issue btw.
I am using cable that has been working right up until today on OS 5.9. Trouble shoot in devices and printers and it says “ USB Composite Device has a driver problem”
But if you didn’t install any new drivers or did anything else “interesting” to your computer, how did that happen?
Sorry, I am at a loss! Should I remove “remove device”?
You could try that. It only helps if it has the wrong driver attached.
I would also try a different cable, even if this cable has worked fine in the past.
Ok, I think I really did something nasty! I put a config from OS5.9 on to make sure the saber was working . Everything is good. I then do the boot/reset and try to to upload a config from OS6. I forgot to put the kill key back in a d now nothing works. Boy I am going places! Is there any way to rescue this situation?
I’m confused. It shouldn’t matter if the kill key is in or not when programming.
Since the saber is now unresponsive after programming with the kill key removed I thought that was the reason. The only thing that works are the two illuminated buttons. Computer says proffieboard device malfunction. The port is greyed out and will not upload a config after pressing boot/reset. I have ordered two more data cables that should come tomorrow. I am confused that all this started after trying OS6. Probably a coincidence, something I did or did not do. I will try the cable I have on another saber on OS5.9 to see if it works.
I removed the sad card from the proffieboard and boot/ reset. In Arduino I can see the a port, com6. Everything looks good. When I upload config it ends compiles sketch and downloads in about three seconds. Insert sd card and boot/reset and computer says last device error. More information under properties is as follows.
Unknown USB Device
(Device descriptor Request Failed) Properties
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code43)
Any ideas, I am kinda lost here.
I’m having trouble following your description.
So, when you do BOOT+RESET correctly there shouldn’t be a port, because the board will be in bootloader mode.
Boot+reset would make the card go into bootloader mode. In bootloader mode the SD card is not used, so it shouldn’t matter.
These comments makes a little more sense if I assume that you’re doing boot+reset wrong, and just resetting the board.
If so, then it would seem that there is something wrong with your SD card, and you should try a different one.
Hello,I am getting a “Proffieboard Drive Error” I have tried two sd cards that I know were working in my Sabers.
When do you get this error?
What did you do when you got this error?
Do you have “mass storage” turned on Arduino → Tools → USB type? (If so, try turning it off.)
And is it still working fine if the SD card is not in the board?
I have USB Type set to Serial

Please update or delete your posts. They don’t really have any information in them anyways.
Sorry about that faux pas, won’t happen again. When I plug the board into the computer it says last USB device not recognized.
Ok, but only when the SD card is in?
You know, the more information you provide, the faster I’ll be able to help.
Yes, when the sd card is in the proffieboard the computer gives me a warning that the last USB device malfunctioned. Even if I boot/reset the board it compiles fine and then downloads in about three seconds but nothing happens with the saber. I know when a proper download happens you can see the percentage and boot at the end. I cannot get the saber to work in OS5.9 or OS6.
Does the serial monitor work (without the SD card)?
Maybe it’s playing sound that is causing it to crash?
If so, running the “beep” command would crash it.
Profezzorn, I have reinstalled drivers and now do not get any warnings about “device errors”. In arduino I now have com3 in port, not greyed out anymore. After trying to upload a config in OS6 it fails. At the bottom it says “Error while setting serial port parameters:9,600 N 8 1”. In Arduino under “serial port” com3 is at the top and then nothing until the bottom. “Newline”,“9600 baud”,“Clear output”. Is there a way I can copy all the script at the bottom after upload failed to show you.
