proffie 3.9 board installed in chassis is not being shown in file explorer, tried the boot and reset buttons method, micro sd card cant be read by computer, micro to sd adapter fault maybe, all files and presets and configs were deleted accidentally, do I need a new board? the only thing that does detect the board is the proffie config app on my laptop, COM4. Arduino cant open the code either, cause file explorer needs to be able to see the contents of the board which it cant.
It is not a “default” feature to read the SD card contents via USB.
The Mass Storage feature is required, and even then it’s fiddly often.
Is the saber operating as normal? What indication do you have that makes you think it’s having issues?
If the SD card can’t be read after taking it out of the saber and connecting it to a computer directly, and you were using the mass storage feature (editing files via USB), then there’s a high chance the SD card was just corrupted.
If that’s the case, wipe the SD and copy over your backup files. (you made a backup right?)
TL;DR this is an SD card issue, not a board issue, and SD card issues are pretty common.
Are you saying you’re trying to use a ProffieOS copy from the SD card? That won’t work over USB anyways (and isn’t recommended just generally). The SD card can’t be accessed via USB during uploading, and Arduino will complain about that. ProffieConfig keeps its own copy and makes sure it’s somewhere reliable on your disk.
i uh, didnt make a back up, and no, it doesnt work as a saber, just says font directory not found when i turn it on
Ok, so then yeah it’s functioning, it just can’t read the SD, likely due to corruption.
It’s possible tbr SD card was physically damaged, it’s easy to do and hard to visually identify, so if you can’t connect to the SD at all even if you’re connecting directly to a computer (or through a dedicated adapter) you will probably need to buy a new card.
If the computer still sees the card in your disk management software of choice, and you can reformat it, you just need to do that and replace your files on the card. You’d need to find them if you didn’t back them up.
