I am having a bit of an issue with a proffie lightsaber for some reason when i plug it into the pc it comes up as a proffieboard but then when i go to upload a config it disconects and changes to bootloader i have tried flushing itbut that hasn’t done anything it also seems to be showing up as COM6 no matter what port i put it i know the cable isnt the issue as i just uploaded a config to a different saber im a bit stuck here. Any help would be appreciated
You want bootloader when you update a config. A Proffieboard will not be able to be flashed with the new config if it is not in bootloader. It is normal behavior.
Think of it like this: imagine you want to format your windows hard drive, but you computer has only one hard drive with one partition and one operating system. Well Windows will not be able to re-format itself. You will need to add another device with another OS so you can reformat your main hard drive.
It is the same with ProffieOS, it can’t overwrite itself, that is why you board goes into bootloader when you try to update your config. Bootloader “partition” will rewrite in your ProffieOS “partition”, then reboot into your ProffieOS “partition”.
