Hi, this post is just to try and gain an understanding for the reason why one of my Proffie 3.9 Boards will only upload a sketch using USB Type = “Serial” and Programmer = “ST-Link V2”. All my other 3.9 boards work using USB Type = “Serial + Mass Storage + WebUSB” and Programmer = “STM32 BOOTLOADER”.
The board that can only use the “Serial” method is able to upload sketches fine but I am curious as to the reason why it is different. Hope this makes sense. This behaviour has been consistent regardless of the Proffie OS Version, was running 7.15 and now 8.10. Regards Les.
The programmer field is irrelevant for
Proffieboards.
The USB doesn’t affect the upload procedure, but rather functionality, akin to a define.
It would be more helpful to share more detailed information about the actual issues you’re encountering, and a copy of the error messages provided by Arduino.
There seems to be some STM32L4 chips around with broken USB encoders/decoders. I’m not sure if it’s they are fakes, or broken in some way, but for whatever reason, they are limited in how many “slots” you can use. (Or maybe it’s just that one particular “slot” is broken?, not sure…)
Where did you get this board?
It came from Khal at KR Sabers so I’m sure it’s legit. It works so not a major worry, the question was out of curiosity. Thanks for the reply.
Probably should notify Khal via his account here @krsabers so he’s aware of the issue if he isn’t already.
