I’m considering setting up a Patreon account.
People have asked “how do I buy you a beer/coffe/whatever”, so this might be how you do that.

If I do, what kind of content would people like to see there.

  • diary - what am I working on today
  • photography - my other hobby
  • polls - what I should be working on
  • doesn’t matter, I just want to show appreciation
  • pcb desgins - flasback, switchback, etc. (with purchase links)
  • … something else … (post below)
  • Video content (before it’s available to the public)
  • Personal build support over VC (note, this will be pricy)

I think this is probably a good idea and revenue stream for you overall!

I like the idea of person help, although I do not think I would pay for it (i’m cheap).
Help here seems to work great, but maybe that would be faster? Also, what is “VC”?

Voice chat. What we used to call a ‘phone call’ I think. Aka dial-a-prof. Yes that should be a beefy hourly rate.

NoSloppy uses kofi, which is cool because it’s situational and occasional. I use his stuff, I can kick him a coffee. Feels good.

Fett263 has Patreon, which I keep subbed to because I use the library so much. Library updates are his main product/content, but he also is generous with his prop updates.

Are you considering both? Do you want to be a ‘content creator’?

Kofi or a low tier sub on Patreon both seem like something I’d be into. Current subs include Fett,
The Crafsman, FranLab, and the Purple Stuff Podcast.

If I got to pick I’d like the kofi option. You don’t have to do anything more, and drop ins to the the forum can leave a gift.

I am curious about your photography. I like that mediums

Actually, I meant “Video Conference”.

I don’t think non-recurring donations will pay for PCB prototypes or any of the equipment I use to make and test boards.

I would contribute. Personally, as someone who started out in the early days of closed-source Plecter boards, I believe everyone in the hobby is indebted to your generous contributions of time and expertise. That being said, I wouldn’t be expecting any content.

Never really done anything Patreon, ever. Probably could and should since I know I should “Buy You Tea” or even @Fett263 some coffee like I’ve done for @NoSloppy

Fett’s the only person I know of in this circle of the expanded hobby who uses it. Do you feel it’ll be worth pursuing because yeah you want our vote but what’re your thoughts on it all?
