Ok, so I have a weird little puzzle occurring that I haven’t been able to solve.
I recently changed fonts and styles to match the Cal Kestis Multi-phase styles in Fett’s library.
With previous styles, #define ORIENTATION ORIENTATION_USB_TOWARDS_BLADE worked to have everything function correctly. In particular Melt and Drag. Now for some reason, drag only works on the ceiling. Mind you that with previous styles, I added the orientation define because without it Drag was on the ceiling. So with this style, I removed it and Melt and Drag stopped working altogether. Any tip poke would just make a clash. I then tried each of these one at a time and had the same issue. No Melt and Drag.

Also, why would USB_TOWARDS_BLADE function one way on one config and a different way on another?

I corrected these issues. Many thanks! Unfortunately, none of them solved the ceiling drag orientation issue, though.
Then get rid of this and test.
Removed and tested. It functions the same as before. Melt on wall and Drag on floor elicit a clash lockup effect at roughly the blade’s midpoint. Dragging on ceiling seems to make the dragging sound, but no visual drag tip or clash effect.
Then you may not be uploading the config you think you are.
Introduce a typo and see if you get an error.
In your first preset delete the “S” in “StylePtr”, save and try to upload. If it doesn’t generate an error then you’re uploading a different config than you’re editing.
If it does generate an error than you may not actually be uploading correctly. Copy the message in Arduino after you try to upload.
will do. thanks! it did just dawn on me that melt works by stabbing a wall OR the ceiling, so it may not be that my drag was oriented wrong. it may just be that melt is working properly and only the drag isn’t working.
i will run your test and report back, but thought i should mention that.

given my previous comment, is it possible that it’s just an issue with the number of LEDs i have assigned in the footer? i’m not sure which config was loaded on my 89saber out of the box and there were several configs on the SD Card it came with, all with different LED numbers, so i went with the 128 because its a 32" blade. maybe the drag is actually working, but the light up effect isn’t displaying because it’s occurring on LEDs it thinks are there but aren’t?
Possibly, try lowering the number of pixels or you can use LengthFinder.
That LengthFinder is super cool! Totally did the trick. There are only 110 diodes in my blade! Everything works as intended and the melt is way more bad ass than it looked before. I am really, really sorry to wild goose chase everyone and THANK YOU as always for your assistance. Time to duel!!
