No sound from Windows when plugging in USB

Hello,

When I plug in my lightsaber, Windows 11 doesn’t make any sound indicating that a new USB device has been detected. Obviously, I don’t see anything in Device Manager either (not even “unknown”).

I’ve tried:

  • different cables
  • plugging it into different USB ports, even some with an independent power source
  • with 2 PCs (Windows 11)
  • holding BOOT and pressing/releasing RESET (the saber’s power button no longer lights the blade, so it seems to be in the correct mode).

I tried DFU setup and it says “completed.” I opened Zadig and I don’t see the lightsaber (I see ROG STRIX, ROG DELTA, and USB RECEIVER with “interface X,” where X can range from 1 to 5).

I don’t see anything to indicate that the saber is malfunctioning.

Any idea what could be the cause?

I wouldn’t be surprised if all the cables you’ve tried weren’t actually data capable unless you’ve verified they are somehow else.

Are you plugging directly into the onboard microB port?

Oh wait… that’s it. Wrong USB port. Thank you very much!

No problem. It’s a fairly common confusion
