New illuminated switch wiring

So I currently have a proffieboard V3 and I recently purchased an illuminated switch. I can’t seem to figure out the wiring configuration though. It’s a 5 post switch with the +, -,NC, NO, C but using the configuration generator I’m unsure how I’m supposed to wire it to the board. I’ve tried several different ways but none of them seem to work. Could anyone help guide me on what connections should be wired to where?

Think of it like two discrete components, because that’s what it is.

Plus and minus is for the LED.

As shown in the generator + goes to 3v3 or BATT+ and - goes to an LED pad. An appropriate resistor must be placed in series with the LED.

NC, NO, and C are the switch legs.

NC and NO stands for “Normally Closed” (normally on) and “Normally Open” (normally off). you’ll find the switch behaves more like what is expected by using “Normally Open”

C is “Common.”

So you use NO and C as your switch lines. They are interchangeable. One goes to GND, the other to the button pad.

please check the Proffieboard v3 PDF User Manual, it shows how to wire and setup illuminated AV switch:

Do you have an actual data sheet or manual for the switch?
What voltages does it need?
For the most part illuminated switches are just a switch and a LED, so they aren’t wired any different than a switch and a LED, but the actual terminals on the switches vary a fair amount so it’s not always easy to say exactly how it should work without knowing exactly what switch you have.

See and I have wired an illuminated switch to a V2 in the past and it was successful but they always were a 4 prong switch before and the additional prong just kinda confused me. That being said I’ve since wired a few different switches to this board and not a single one of them are working so far. I’ve tried 3 illuminated switches(2 of which were the more simple 4 prong) and also tried 2 other non illuminated switches and not a single one of them have worked so far. Come to think of it, I haven’t been able to power up this V3 board since I bought it except for using serial commands… Could the board have come to me with a faulty button 1 contact?

It’s possible, how likely that is depends on where you bought it.
