Looking for an Obi Wan Kenobi Blade Style

Hey Community,

I have recently bought my very first Saber, I never planned on getting a Proffie Core, but it just happened to be one in the end.

I have bought a Combat Saber Model Obi-Wan EP1 and have a matching “costume” from Obi Wan to attend some Conventions, just for fun

Now I am looking for the right Blade Style, does anyone happen to have ready made blade styles from Obi Wan EP1 Phantom Menace, or even up to EP3. I am looking for that roto flickering blue blade look to mess around a little bit.

I tried to create one with the help of AI, but in the style editor it’s completely not working.

My Proffieboard is running a OS7.x don’t remember exactly which one it was.

Any help appreciated, I will mess around with fetts library, which I just discovered, but the roto blades and the vast amount of options are a little bit overwhelming for me.

You’re probably going to want a Rotoscope style from my library, there are several including Prequel versions. Just choose one of the Prequel options in the dropdown, choose a blue Base Color to your liking and click Get Style Code, the library defaults all other options to standard lightsaber effects, but you can obviously customize if you want.

From there, use this page and go step-by-step if you’re new to uploading.

Thanks Fett, in the meantime I have done a Rotoscope Style with your Library, in the beginning I just didn’t understand a lot of the options there are to choose from. But I managed to set up a blade style to my liking.

Yesterday I was fiddling around with your Instructions page, and finally got my saber connected and Arduino even shows the COM Port, etc.

I was just not ready to hit “upload” because I didn’t fully understand the config file which was supposed to be compiled already on my saber. After messing around for quite some time I think I found the initial config file, since my saber comes with 32 fonts and a battery font preinstalled, i didn’t want to lose anything, because of lack of knowledge.

The one thing i completely don’t understand, and is the last step hindering me to upload my new freshly created blade style is this:

I downloaded the new ProffieOS 8.10, and created a full config from your library. If I merge the style with the config file from my SD Card, put a new folder for the balde style with an existing font, so I just take some existing sounds to not mess around too much, have the config defined in the ProffieOS.ino and the config put into the respective folder. I will “update” the Proffieboard to the OS 8.10 right? Since there are some older fonts and configs on the SD Card, am I running into any problems? If so, would there be a necessity to “downgrade” if anything happens to the compile for OS 8.10. Since I don’t really know the current version, and diagnostics are clearly disabled in the config file, I don’t want to mess up the fonts I have right now.

If you want to know your current OS version connect your saber to your computer. Go to Arduino > Tools > Serial Monitor and type ‘version’. Then you’ll know the current version.

From there as long as you keep a backup of your original config you can always revert.

I would then go step-by-step on the updating instructions page above and be sure you read through everything for how to update and what that entails. It will cover the rest.

If you want to backup everything:

  1. copy the content of your SD-card to your computer
  2. you also want to backup ProffieOS (including loaded config) installed in your Proffieboard:
ProffieOS Documentation: How to back up a Proffieboard
This backup of your Proffieboard can’t be edited or viewed to see what is inside but allows to return your saber to “factory default”.

Exactly this didn’t do anything, the Core was showing the battery voltage all the time, but whatever I typed in, it just didn’t trigger any answer and went back to showing the voltage after some time.

Thx olivier!

  1. already done
  1. that was exactly what i was looking for, will check it out if I understand everything later

Are you connecting to the port that’s on the Proffieboard or a charging port? Make sure you have a data cable and not just a charging cable.

In Arduino Tools > Port make sure you choose your Proffieboard before going into Serial Monitor.

I’ve reinstalled all the drivers and use Arduino IDE 2.3.8

This is what I have selected when I connect the Proffieboard with my data cable to the computer. So I assume that it is correct so far.

It seems that it’s working now. When I open the Serial Monitor it shows these initial information. And now I can even command version and it gives me this:

Looks like I am ready to go for my first update with the new OS 8.10 version!
Are you connecting the Proffieboard with the killswitch on or off? Currently I have it set to off, just to be sure.

It doesn’t matter, either works.
