Lockup Sensitivity

I was watching the Kyberphonics demo videos on their site and the guy swinging the saber around just gently taps his blade and gets clashes every time. And then he does a gentle tap and gets a lockup.
For me, I can’t really get a clash by hitting the blade with my hand. I have to hit the hilt. And for me to get a lockup is almost never. I literally have bruises on my left palm now. I’m holding the power as I clash to get the lockup but it hardly ever happens. Certainly not as easily as the Kyberphonic guy.

Is there a sensitivity setting that I’m missing somewhere?

CLASH_THRESHOLD_G is the main control, try lowering the number in your config.

But there are multiple additional defines to fine tune.

Ahh, I just found it in the config builder. (I was looking in the styles builder) It is set to 3 which seems like it should be good. Should I lower it even more?
I’ll check the link.
Thanks.

It will depend on your hilt, chassis, etc. You want you want to find a value that let’s you clash easily enough without getting false clashes. 3.0 is a good start, you can try 2.5 if you want to make it easier and increase or decrease by .1 to dial in.

I just watched your full demo for one button controls and another issue I’m having is stab, melt, and drag. In your video you just tap the wall gently and you get stab. I have to hit so hard that my saber shorts out and I have to take everything apart and reset the blade. Something is off.
Can I ask what clash settings you use? and are those settings what control the stab/melt/drag sensitivity?

It’s gonna depend on your saber. I typically use 2.5 to 3.0 on most of my sabers, but each one is a little different.

As noted, there’s also a bunch of other settings you can try per the article I linked. From there it will be a lot of trial and error to find the “Goldilocks” for your saber.

With Stab, Melt and Drag sometimes if the blade isn’t tightly seated it can absorb a little bit of the impact depending on the pins or if the chassis moves inside and insulates some of the impact, so it will take a little more than a normal clash, again depending on the individual saber.
