Lightsaber 3d models

So, I’m trying to add a proper lightsaber to the style editor. However, finding good-looking 3d models (preferably in OBJ format) seems to be difficult. Of course, the models also has to be free to use, or I can’t use it on my website.

Anyways, I thought I’d ask you guys if you have some models that I can use?
If so, post a link, or attach here.

Unfortunately that doesn’t help me much, because it has no colors or materials.

I can add colors easy enough but what materials are you referring to

The colors and material are stored in a separate file when using OBJ file format.
(A MTL file usually)

Materials define properties of the surface, like shinyness, roughness, metalicity, opacity and color.

While your 3d model is cool, it’s not exactly what I’m looking for though, I was hoping for 3d models of in-movie hilts, created for rendering, not for mechanics or 3d printing.

*I don’t have the skillset but IMHO if you’re going to go that far then design a hilt that isn’t one that’s been done before. Do one that’s unique to TheCrucible.

The design is mostly based on this drawing:

However, i’ve omitted several things to keep it from becoming too heavy to render. (No D-ring, no rivets, no knurdling, etc.) It’s more like a cartoon version, where the idea is to give enough accuracy to make it look good rather than being actually accurate.

Very nice.

At the risk of dipping a little fly in this ointment, when I click on the link above, the style editor runs very slowly, and blade style features like flicker levels don’t show up at all as the page can’t keep up. Whereas the normal style editor works fine, so I don’t think it’s my computer or connection.

Is this intended just as a kind of preview to see the new hilt model, or will this become the main editor?

I think that means that I need a button or something to select which model to use. I might also be able to detect low frame rates and automatically turn off the higher quality model.

If we’re nit picking a bit, I think the previous blade looked better


Probably accustomed to previous a lot, but it seems the new one washes out colors a bit too being whiter.
