Issue wiith my blade

A strange issue has developed.

Saber was working fine the other night but I noticed battery was draining even with kill switch off, so I figured out that id wired the kill switch in the +ve to the board and read that it should be in the -ve line to the board so then nothing would have power when the switch was off

In the meantime I have taken the killswitch out and wired +ve straight from battery to Batt In on board and left the -ve straight from battery to Batt Neg on the board as it was before - so the only real change i made was take the killswitch out and wire +ve straight to board

Since I have done that now my blade only lights up very dim and only red.

The blade connector baselit LEDs in the top of the hilt work fine, and they share the same data and voltage wires, this was working fine previously. But the blade will not light properly.

Could it be the pixel strip gone? Its literally only been sat on the side since the last time I used the saber…

The only other thing was the battery had gone basically dead from being left in the hilt, I have charged this up to at least 75% though and its still doing it, I have tested the battery voltage when the blade is in and it reads 3.8v

The pins on the blade connector at the hilt also register full 3.8v too

Any ideas or things to diagnose?

One other thing to note is that when the blade is in then the hilt leds that work fine with the blade out also go dim and red

I dont have another pixel strip to try atm and my supplier is out of stock

Blown fett😫

You don’t mention how the connector LEDs and main blade get (+) power. Should be direct from the battery.
Kill switch in the (+) line to the board is correct if you want to put it back in. That won’t have anything to do with the pixels being dim.

Seeing your blown FET seems to me you found your problem.

I would rewire to a different unused LED pad so you get off that bad FET, adjust your config, and then double check all your wiring for shorts with a multimeter before applying power again.

Thank u, do we know which led pads that fett is supplying?

Yes can confirm power goes directly to those items

My wiring diag

Here you go:

Brilliant thanks

Looks like LED 3 port dead then which makes sense as thats what my blade is bridged to 2 on

There is free 2 and free 3 on the proffie 3.9 can these be used as a substitute for led 2/3 pins?

If so what would the pin mapping need to be changed to in config

Or any other alternatives

Fixed.

Desoldered LED3 which was the broken fet

Bridged LED6 to LED2 and adjusted config and works

Thanks for the photo very helpful

Good. I’m glad you didn’t try the free pads

I assume the “Free” pads dont have the required power bandwidth to support it…

They pin to the CPU. Use for data is fine. Only the LED 1-6 pads run through the MOSFETs.
