Incorrect pixel animation/colors from a confirmed working config?

I will start with the TLDR:

I installed a blaster that I have installed over 10 of in the past and utilized the same config and set of components each time. This one time, the pixels are not animating correctly. There is no reason for the change to happen that I can think of.

This config/blade styles worked for me every time with no issues.

I have done quite a bit of trouble shooting already. I have tested the config on 3 different proffieboards (1x v2.2 and 2x v3.9 boards) and all of them have the same results.

one of the proffie v3.9 that i tested was in a completely different build that I could confirm was working before hand.

I also tested the config in different ProffieOS’s

Tested on v6.9, v7.14 and the latest MasterOS.

They all yeild the same results.

I have loaded a working config onto the blaster that I am working on and everything functions normally. all the pixels light up and animate correctly.

So the only thing I can think of is that the way the code is written is now the issue? I really don’t know.

The blade styles also display correctly in the bladestyle editors… If you would like some video footage, I can attach some.

This suggests that there is a “working config” and that the one you posted is different from that in some way.

I only meant to say that this config was saved to be reused in similar builds and has successfully been used up until today.

The Working config I mentioned loading onto the blaster was just a regular lightsaber setup with basic blade styles from another build. so that i could confirm wiring and components were okay.

Ok, questions:

  1. When you say it doesn’t “animate correctly”, what does that mean? What does it look like?
  2. Is there any difference between this config and other blasters that work?
  3. The “working” configuration, which I guess was from a saber, can you post that too so we can see the difference?
  4. What version of the arduino-proffieboard plugin are you using?
  1. The pixel colors are not displaying correctly on most modes and presets. for example,
    Stun in the NN-14 config displays white/pink where as the fire mode displays blue barrel with a yellow muzzel pixel. The animations for these work.

The A-180 full auto mode flashes pink and then on release, fades from off to max brightness of pink and then shuts off at the end of the wav file.

  1. I loaded on a different blasters config that had the same results on this blaster. Most of the bladestyles are the same in the configs, only the order of the presets change mostly or I add new presets as i create new fonts for new blasters.

  2. The “working” config that i used to confirm everything was wired correctly and working as intended

  1. Arduino-proffie 4.1

maybe a dumb question but if you’ve used this config before and it worked, and you’ve tried 3 different Proffieboards and you still get weird results… wouldn’t that indicate that the remaining thing (the pixels) could be the problem?
Did you swap them too?

edit - oh, you said a saber based config displays colors correctly.

ok, so then did you try plugin version 3.6.0?
Is that what you used previously on builds when this config had worked?

I would have used plugin version 3.6 correct. I didnt think of that till now and only realized i was on 4.1 when frederik asked.

For info, 4.1 as been removed so if you switch to 3.6, you will not be able to get 4.1 back until it is restored.

well… 4.1 was the problem. All is well now. Problem has been solved

It’s still possible to install 4.1 if you use the beta or experimental URLs for the arduino-proffieboard plugin.

I’m sure you’ve checked this already, but just to eliminate it from the enquiry, have you tried changing the colour order on the blade array for the offending LED from GRB to RGB?

I did do that initially and it wasn’t the correct change as it still didn’t assign the right colors to the blade styles.
