How to "smoothen" the edged

Hi The Crucible,

I would like to make a tsuba out of my avatar picture (I know I will need a back support) but since it was generated out of a low def picture, the edges are all rough.

Does anyone knows how to smoothen the edges ? I am not having much luck on Google. I don’t think I am using the right search keyword.

I used imagetostl.com to generate this:
MandoSith_Mythosaure.stl (103.0 KB)

It is already much better than what it was by reducing the amount of triangles (the edges where very jagged), but if I reduce further, I get the skull with “squared edges” (it’s already starting in the tusks), I would like to keep the skull and tusks curved but smooth.

Also, I would like to add an eye-patch. Any idea how I could do that?

I am very new at 3D printing and creating stl’s.

As always, thank you for any help or advice.

Silly me, I can just download one. Sorry about that.

However, I still don’t see how to make an eye patch on it.

Edit: What king of basic shapes combined together (I am using Tinkercad) would be able to replicate the shape for his left eye?

I don’t know tinker cad, but I could help modify the stl if you would like.

For 2d geometries, don’t use a cad program, use inkscape.

Thank you for the offer @orntar, I figured it out:
Mythosaure_with_eye_patch.stl (303.0 KB)
I think it looks pretty good and exactly as I wanted.

My tsuba is printing right now, it will be done in a few hours. I hope it is not TOO BIG! Or too much greeblies, nah that can’t be a thing.

If the print is successful, I’ll post a photo tomorrow.

Thanks @profezzorn, I’ll look at that tomorrow. But to be fair it is not exactly 2D anymore even if it started as such.

Have a good night guys.
