Font Directory not found

Hey all I have been searching past threads and cant seem to figure this out. I was updating my saber from 130 pixels down to 123. I made this quick change in the config file and after uploading. my board is saying “font directory not found.” any help is greatly appreciated.

Its on there. I have never had any problems when updating the fonts. I updated the pixel numbers for a shorter blade. This is the first time I have uploaded to my board in about a year. Does it matter if the SD card is in the board when I plug it in and run arduino?

It can if you have mass storage set up. Sometimes you can finish an upload with the sd card mounted as a drive and scramble your sd data by unplugging without fully ejecting.

As soon as the upload completed, my Mac gave the “disk not properly ejected” error even tho the board remained plugged in. When I tried a second time, it did the same thing. Should I buy a new SD card?

When I plug in my board with the SD card inserted, the SD does not show up in my disks on my mac. When I plug in the SD card to the card reader, my computer sees it.

You should be able to just reformat the card and move your fonts and common folder back onto it. I use the Mac disk utility. It’s slow to show up on your desk top, so it’s connected if even it’s hot yet visible. That’s why you get the eject error. I’ve done the same many times even when trying not to, so I don’t use the mass storage setting in arduino.

Before you upload go into Tools in Arduino and choose USB Type without “Mass Storage”, then upload.

Now I have a new issue. I reformatted the SD card and re-uploaded the config to the board. Now when I boot it, it says “error in Font Directory” at the same time it starts playing the bootup sfx. I can change fonts, but when I do it is very slow and it says “error in font directory” as well as the font .wav

Remove this define:

This is expected behavior. When the board reboots, the power goes away for a moment, so the SD card unmounts from the computer. That’s the same as just yanking a USB drive before “ejecting” it from the Desktop.
When using the Mass Storage option, you should always right-click and choose Eject before uploading or disconnecting USB cable.

If you upload without the Mass Storage option selected, the SD card won’t connect to the computer when you plug the board in via USB.

Anyway, since you may have corrupted the files you should just reformat the board and load your fonts back on. (you made a backup of it before, right?)
