Config and saber question....help

So I’m sort of new to the proffie board and saber community. I got my saber and it was on OS5 and I had updated it to OS7 but it comes with some errors. It uploads fine, however, my gesture for twist on is so delicate I can’t control it and I’ve read other people have that issue. When I tried doing what other do to fix it, nothing works. I’m running fett263 prop but I don’t feel like that’s the problem, unless it may be. Other thing is when I go into the edit menu and color option, it doesn’t let me confirm a color. I will get to the option to choose a color with rotation and hold the pwr button to zoom on the color, but when I release the button, it doesn’t do anything. If I press the power button again after I released it, the button does nothing, it goes dead. Only thing I can do is press aux which only cancels my selection. I’m still able to go into the quick select for color by holding aux and pressing pwr, but it is just annoying with not everything working as it should. Would appreciate any help.

P.S. my board won’t let me upload to it without the SD in the board, and I only have Arduino set for serial and WebUsb

Please post your config file so we can take a look at it.

@Fett263, does this sound normal to you?

That sounds completely weird. The board doesn’t need anything to do with the SD card to upload to it.
Are you sure you’re doing it right?

Edit: sorry thought you asked about SD being needed for upload.

Your styles aren’t Edit Mode (ARG) format but they should work in Color Change. To edit colors you need OS6 or OS7 styles. I would recommend regenerating your styles in my library so they use the ARG values for Edit Mode.

Your sentence seems quite weird to me, is this what you mean:
you can’t upload a new config to your board when no SD-Card is present (this doesn’t seem to be possible because Arduino doesn’t care if an SD-Card is present or not)

Config get uploaded to the Proffieboard through Arduino only.
Copying a config file to the SD-card, is a good practice for backup porpose only, but it does nothing to the board programming.

And if you want to copy your config on the SD-card while the SD-card is in your Proffieboard, then you need to activate Serial+Mass Storage (with or without WebUSB)

Unrelated but for my info only, I believe your saber is from Theory Sabers (or at least your config is). If you don’t mind, what sound package is this for: Mark 1 Free, Originals, Sequels, Games or Streaming ( I know it is not Prequels, because I have that one) ?

When I had first uploaded I did it with the SD out and it worked perfectly fine. Since I updated all my stuff to proffie os7, every time I have the SD out of the board and plug the board into my computer it would always try and open file manager to search for the SD card even when it was set for serial only. Once I have the SD card in the board then it won’t look for anymore because it finds it. The first time it did it I did what other people suggested and just ejecting it first from the file manager before uploading to avoid a possible corruption (I also have all the contents backed up). Since the last time I uploaded it hasn’t been looking for it through the file manager, but without the SD card in the board and the board plugged in, instead of the computer nagging me about putting the SD card into the board, the board itself starts saying that it needs the SD card in the board, yes I went through the speakers on the board chassis.

That is normal, it has nothing to do with uploading your config.
When the board is powered, it will look for the SD-card because it want s to start playing sounds. You are hearing “SD-card not found” twice.

You can just hit upload and your config will be verified then uploaded. After upload, your board will reboot and again search for the SD-card, if present, sounds will start playing, if not present, you will again hear “SD-card not found”.

Unplug your board from your computer, insert your SD-card, power your board with the battery and voila.

Sorry for it being confusing. When I say I can’t upload, it’s the board now just saying that the SD is not in the board and can’t find it. I haven’t tried uploading after it saying that but from another comment in here I believe that’s ok to do so I will try just ignoring and uploading it.

And yes it is a theory saber with the games package.

Thank you for the suggestion, I was wondering if there were different defines for the colors. My only question to that is if there is a way to copy the current style format and use it to be updated to contain those values. Unsure if that makes sense but I don’t want to have to recreate styles that I’m not entirely sure what the settings for them were in the first place.

Unfortunately, no. OS5 styles only had one color that could “change” and used a very different mechanism to do. With OS6 and 7, every effect color is individually editable.

If you want to keep those styles, then you’d just use Color Change function to change color, not Color Editing in Edit Mode.

If you want to use Edit Mode and Color Editing you’ll need OS6 or OS7 styles.

I am in the same boat as @KindredVermin8, I also just acquired a saber from Theory Sabers. They seem to only come pre-installed with OS5 and older OS5 blade styles.

Would it help with color editing to paste these older blade styles in the style editor and Argify them ?

Yes, but not as much as building new styles using Fett263s tools.
