Comics and other Hobbies

Those are awesome. I recently got back into illustrating, as my kids got me an Apple Pencil, but finding it an uphill battle since I’m restarting from such a remedial point.

I’m the creator owner and writer so I hired my penciller to do these. team effort really. but yeah they are looking great.

the art was done by my artist Jay Sloan, I wrote the script and cause he’s work for hire I’m the owner of the IP.

Ok, now I’m curious, how much does work like that cost/pay? (My daughter is an aspiring artist…)

it depends on the artist, but my artist charges about 100usd per page which is a standard rate for independant comic book artists but illustrating books is a collaborative effort. The one that I recommend is Scott McClouds series, understanding Comics, reinventing comics and Making Comics really helped with understanding and creating comics. super valuable resources and very easy to read, it’s a comic book designed to create comics.

as a bare minimum you have, 1. writer 2. penciller (which is what you see here) 3. Inker (provides shading and definition i got a bundle deal but these two roles can be separate). 4. colourist (same as previous) and 5. letterer (this is the words in the comics plus the first role that directly influences flow of the comic). 6. some say editor is optional I would say it is a must they look at the comic and provide advice on how to make it better.
