Just wondered if anyone had some advice about trying to get a neopixel strip that I broke working, I’m aware the most likely answer is that its dead.
Basically it broke after i soldered the blade connector on the end, im a bit clumsy with soldering so probably overheated something I shouldnt.
Some LEDs flicker on and offer for a brief second when you first power it on.
I have tried putting flux over the area around the pads on the strip and heating with an iron to reflow but no joy. I dont mind even removing the bottom led or something if its that and bridging but dont know how.
On there second picture there’s two small pads that look to be meant for a resistor. If this is the KR 3.5 pixel stick, then the product photos on the site show a resistor on there which you might have knocked off. If you ask Khal what it’s meant to be, you can replace it.
Experience speaking here, what grade of solder (percentage listing) did you use because honestly those joints look “cold” and you may just try reflowing them at a slightly higher temperature and letting them cool back down naturally. You’re looking for the solder to be as shiny/bright as the other parts. Also switch to a better solder iron tip so you can clear the first LED shroud easier without melting the white plastic. Most of us use different tools but the main goto I still use is my Hakko888 I got direct and did a kit-inclusion for the solder, tips, etc.
