Accent pixels burning out

I built a depa hilt out for a friend and put in some crystals I bought at a shop with some single 5050 pixels off amazon. v2.2 data3 line

worked great, looked cool, but a couple weeks after, he said they stopped working.

I replaced them with some leds cut from a strip, and same thing, a few weeks in, they burn out.

popped in another resistor, 470ohm this time, and used different brand pixels. happened again.

I guess it’s the board?

Does it have a battery holder?
Did the end user put the battery in backwards?

Data resistor won’t affect it. It’s most likely caused by putting the battery backwards, it fries pixels instantly. If you want to protect all your electronics inside the saber, use these little pcbs:
