18650 with bms not working

I am working on a custom saber with proffieboard v2.

I wanted protection voor my battery, but the bms stops working at random.
Is this is an issue created by the proffieboard or is it a bms fault ?

And is it possible to usd only a 18650 cell without bms

Firstly, welcome to the forum.

Your question has many things to consider to better understand what is going on.
Are you running a neopixel blade?
What is the power/current cut off for your bms?
Are you just running the proffieboard with nothing attached?
Maybe there is a possible short somewhere causing the bms to shut down?

You can use a single high discharge 18650 battery to run your Install but it is very recommended to get one that has a protection circuit build onto it.
This will help protect your install if something bad happens.

We are running circuit with 2 strings of neopixel leds, current draw of around 3-4 Amp.

The bms we currently use can handle up to 10 Amps. So that shouldn’t be the problem.

As for now we suggest it is the bad quality of the bms.

Does the proffieboard has Internal hardware/software that will disable the battery is to low to use ?

What’s a bms?

it’s a battery management system. It regulates and monitors the 18650 battery.

Most people use batteries with builtin protection.
Either way, this sounds like a bad BMS, so I would try a different one and see if that solves the problem.
ProffieOS will say “low battery” and turn the blade off when it detects low battery, but it doesn’t do anything with the protection circuit. (It doesn’t even know about it.)
