Suggestion naming convention of major updates after star wars animals

I think it would be fun to have nickname conventions for major updates. I suggest something at least something star wars related. But animals in star wars would be fun. or maybe go more vague like animals and aliens and characters if there isnt a widely known name…

like Anzellan, Bantha, Colo claw fish, Dewback, ewok, Fathier, Gungan, Howler,

Kind of like Debian?
ProffieOS 8.x, Wet Ewok?

Love this idea!
Apple obviously have done place names for a long time - Mojave, Sierra, Catalina etc. There are plenty of cool place names in Star Wars.
ProffieOS 8 - Coruscant
ProffieOS 9 - Bespin
ProffieOS 10 - Ahch-To

Or maybe go for the lesser known ones:
ProffieOS 11 - Cantonica
ProffieOS 12 - Zeltros

We could even rustle up round icons depicting each location. They would obviously have to be copyright-free, but I don’t mind having a crack at some designs if we decide to go down this road.

Unless people start using color displays, we don’t really have a place to show these icons though.

Whlie fun to think about, I’m not actually going to give code names to ProffieOS releases, and I wish that Debian, Ubuntu and Apple wouldn’t either. I never know what these code names actually mean, and I find myself having to look up which one is the latest all the time.

While kind of fun, it’s not helpful, so I’m not going to do it.

We could have an easter egg ASCII picture when typing “version”.

Agreed! I find the release code names for Debian and others incredibly confusing, I really wish they would use numbers. They’re really fun and creative, but really difficult to work with.

alphabetical name to make easier to id version. also its just fun. normally its a theme like android uses desserts. like cupcake…

Aldaran, Bespin, Corusant, Degobah, Endor…

That’s a lot of releases !
