Proffieboard V2 Boot Loop / USB Not Recognized Issue

I’m having an issue with my Proffieboard V2 suddenly entering a boot loop.

What happened:

  • The saber was working fine previously (no issues at all)
  • I did NOT flash any new firmware
  • The only thing I did was add new sound fonts to the SD card
  • After plugging it in to charge, it started making a clicking sound with a blinking blue LED

:warning: Current behavior:

  • Board continuously: blink → click → reset loop
  • Happens:
    • with SD card :x:
    • without SD card :x:
    • with battery :x:
    • without battery :x: (USB only)

So, adding new fonts don’t really do anything unless you also update the firmware to find the new font. Since you didn’t flash new firmware, I guess the new font never actually worked?

Since V2 boards don’t have onboard charging, I assume your saber has an external USB-C charging board? Or are you using an external charger with a barrel jack?

Does the blink click also happen USB is not plugged in?

yeah it uses a usb c

it doesnt blink when its unplugged from the usb but it doesnt start with the battery

it doesnt blink when its unplugged from the usb but it doesnt start with the battery

Is the battery fully charged?

yes it is i charged it this morning

Unfortunately, it’s not obvious to me what is going on.
Generally speaking, it can’t be a programming problem, because you didn’t reprogram it, and it used to work.
Also, it can’t be a problem with the SD card, because it has the same sort of problems even without the SD card.
Finally, the fact that it doesn’t start up when just connected to battery makes me think that there is something wrong with the wiring, or the board itself. It could be a D60/D61 problem for instance, or maybe there is a short somewhere. (Something touching a cable it’s not supposed to.)

I would recommend posting pictures and/or video of the problem, maybe me (or someone else) will spot the problem, or recognize the what it’s happening based on how the click sounds or something. It’s a bit of a long shot though.
