Hilt detect identification

I was told there is a way for the chassis to be able to detect what hilt it is being conected using the blade detect.

I have a Kestis and a Kestis Crossguard that are going to share a chassis. The Kestis has one button and the Crossgaurd has two, also each has it own set of fonts. Is it possible for the chassis to change this way?

Blade detect is just a way to check when things are connected/disconnected. It does not tell you what is connected/disconnected.

Blade ID could potentially be used this way, but it won’t be able to switch the number of buttons dynamically. There is code for switching out the preset array depending on what blade ID is detected, but not other things.

It could be possible to combine this with a dual-prop setup, but that is somewhat complicated to do.

I suppose you could just use a one-button setup on both…

I thought about going with one button, it would allow me to use the other pad as a digital line for the crossguards.

You may be right about the button but in the proffie guide pages 22-24 it does show how with a resistor added to one hilt and not the other can set which styles can be used just by adding “{150,” blade resistance or “{23600,” blade plus resistor resistance. full number can be identified in serial monitor(that is awesome tip from Dimitri). So this is actually doable and here i was about to build a second hilt.
