Force Push effect

The instruction in OS8 for force push confuses me a bit. When it says “push hilt perpendicularly from a stop,” what exactly does that look like in execution? I assume it means move in an L-shaped motion from its last position, but it’s inconsistent how often it works.

Hold the hilt near you and push it away from a stopped position. Perpendicularly meaning the side of the hilt leads the way, not like stabbing with the blade.
It doesn’t need to be up and down vertically, it’s just an example.

^That. FWIW in a choreographed scene NOT CHOREO SETTING but a scene being acted out this is the best learning method IMHO. You hold the hilt and blade close to the center of your chest(roughly 8-10") straight up and down and “punch” slowly so-as to not twist your wrist doing so. Picture the 3" punch motion but you’re using up about 5-8" in distance beyond the distance from your chest. From there knowing how the motion works you can integrate it into other positioning.

Take your time, it’s actually easier than learning twist-on and twist-off, and MTFBWY!
