Fett263 disable color change

Hey guys - is there a way to disable the live color change on just a particular bladestyle? I know there’s the global define, but can I do it per blade?

If you go through and remove the RgbArg<> entries and replace them with a static Rgb<> value, that should prevent them from being changed if I’m not mistaken.

So for example you’d find all instances of RgbArg inside your bladestyle, and when you find one:

RgbArg<BASE_COLOR_ARG,Rgb<0,0,255>> for example would become Rgb<0,0,255>
(Be sure to keep the value inside the Rgb the same so you keep the color the same as before)

(If there’s something like White instead of an Rgb, that works too)

Maybe it needs the initial RgbArg

That looks roughly correct if you’re just trying to lock the base color to blue.

Can you paste the result of your Find/Replace’ing? (Can look and see where you went wrong)

If you’re using my OS7 library, just set the color(s) to ‘Fixed’ and select the color you want :wink:.

I did try that initially but it seems to ignore the fixed aspect of the colour setting - is it literally just toggling that fixed colour option? Because that doesn’t seem to work correctly.

But I can still alter this with the live colour edit (pwr+aux) which isn’t what I want for these particular styles

I threw a fix up but won’t get a chance to test, refresh the page and see if that handles. When you remove BASE_COLOR_ARG from a style the OS defaults to the ColorWheel unless you use:

#define DISABLE_COLOR_CHANGE

Just refresh the library and give it a try with Base Color set to “Fixed”. This should prevent any colors from changing when enter the mode. If not, post the style the generated and I’ll have another look in the morning, I’m tied up the rest of the day unfortunately.

If you want to prevent entering the Mode altogether you need to use above define.

If you’re just worried about a client doing something wrong I advise providing them the Buttons & Controls so they know how to actually use the saber. If you use my Config Tool it will generate a completely custom “Button/Control List” you can print based on the options you’ve set up in the config. Just watch the videos at the top and read the instructions. This way your client knows how to actually control the saber.

To the end of allowing the end user to customize settings, ProffieConfig will also generate the setting-dependent button controls, and if you provide your client the config file it can easily be imported into ProffieConfig to allow for an easy way to edit all the proffieboard options and apply them to the proffieboard without requiring them to learn Arduino or any of that (but with virtually all the options still available) :slight_smile:

Yeah he’ll have the config and controls just in case, but this is more for my peace of mind than his aha. There’s a few bladestyles which have hardcoded “green” “orange” “red” in the boot sounds and I’d rather he didn’t break those ones, they can stay as they are. All the other styles have been setup with color change in mind though - just wasn’t aware of a way to lock down a particular style given that fixed color wasn’t working!

That’s a blade that’s supposed to be locked in as white, but it still changes hues just like all the others when you hit PWR+AUX. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news and bugs!

Post back here when you’ve had a chance to fix and I’ll roll out the new styles then, customer will just have to wait :slight_smile:

I don’t think you refreshed -or- your browser cached the old script. I threw a patch in versus a new version. Try holding ‘Shift’ then refresh the page, this should clear the old script. I’ll do a proper version update when i have time.

Also, don’t cut the copyright and header section out or it makes it impossible to troubleshoot. The comment section at the top has zero impact on the memory used and it includes a ton of very important info for both the end user and me (if I need to troubleshoot). If you don’t provide for me I can’t (and won’t) troubleshoot issues.
