I may have misspoke. I’m looking for a way he can do it without having to access the board at all just by using edit mode? I’m going to show him how to reflash the board and use the Workbench (WebUSB) but I know he’s going to randomly flip settings by accident and it would be a pain to have to pull the chassis just because he double clicked when he should have triple clicked on something.
Yes, as Oliver noted, you can remove the .ini and .tmp files BUT this resets ALL changes.
You can “Revert” any change while you’re in Edit Mode BUT once you “Save” you will have to re-Edit it to change back. There is no universal reset. If you change something and want to change it back, you’d just re-edit that change to what you want.
If you want to completely undo ALL changes then you’d remove the .ini and .tmp files in the SD root but you obviously need access to the SD. If you do a new Flash, the new upload overrides all changes made previously.
Thank you. My problem is he’s a little twitchy when it comes to the button controls and I have no idea what he did to make it happen. So I can’t show him how to re-edit them back. He’s actually pretty tech savvy so if I teach him how to manipulate this stuff he’ll be fine.
I mean, if it’s really an issue for him then I’d recommend having him read the controls. As long as you’re not just blindly pushing and holding buttons it’s kinda hard to “accidentally” change something.
The controls are all laid out on this page, learning to use them will make things much easier IMHO.
It’s very easy for lay-people to mess up the settings. I’ve had people play with my personal sabers before and they will do just the right amount of random clicking/waving/stabbing/etc. that I don’t know what they changed. My friend is not very consistent with click vs. long click vs. hold. I just showed him how to delete his .ini & temp files in case he does it again. He also has the full documentation for 1 button controls and we looked at the preset commands he might want to avoid until he gets better at this.
Or you could remove
#define FETT263_EDIT_MODE_MENU
and replace it with
#define FETT263_EDIT_SETTINGS_MENU and as long as the board is setup with Serial + WebUSB, then the edit mode stuff can still be done via ProffieOS Documentation: The ProffieOS Workbench
Thanks, I wasn’t aware of the FETT263_EDIT_SETTINGS_MENU vs. edit mode. I asked him if he wanted me to take off the edit mode and he promised he’d pay more attention to the documents I gave him and how he’s tapping through the menu’s. At least he knows how to take it back to stock if he messes it up again.
