Config not uploading (Windows 10)

Hello!

I recently purchased a couple of Proffie board sabers from The Custom Saber Shop (tcss). They sell pre-wired, pre-programmed cores , and this seemed like a good idea at the time. I also purchased several sound fonts.

I have spent the past several days doing a lot of reading, a lot of downloading, and playing around with config generators. I have included the config file I am attempting to upload onto my proffie board, but I’m not sure the file itself is the issue.

I am only playing with one of the two sabers right now. I have checked and saved backups of the config files from both boards. They are nearly identical. The boards themselves are Proffieboard v. 3.9. That’s what is stamped on the board, and I confirmed it with tcss. They claim that the OS version on the boards is 7.1, although given the syntax on their config files, I think they may have written the configs in something that predates version 6. The config files were written with 5 blades, although both of my sabers are pretty simple - no crossguards, no crystal chambers. I do have illuminated buttons, for whatever that’s worth.

Arduino doesn’t seem to have any problems with the config file itself, and it also recognizes the proffieboard, in the correct COM port.

Every time I try to upload the file, however, I get a:

Cannot open DFY device 0483:df11

message. This is after every line in the 10, 9, 8… countdown.

Any ideas where to go from here?

That was actually…

…not the problem, but it did start me thinking along a path to a solution.

When I sat down to learn how to set up the proffieboards, I initially downloaded that Zadig program on my main computer. I installed it, but never actually ran it to try setting up a proffieboard, because I ran across instructions that included that proffie_dfu_setup that you mentioned. Still, I think I managed to screw up my drivers on my main computer, somehow.

So, I downloaded Arduino, the Proffie OS, and dfu_setup to my laptop, and was just able to use my laptop to correctly set up the proffieboard in my saber!

So, the sabers work, now I need to fix the drivers on my desktop, which I suspect means some deleting and reinstalling of things…
